I was 15 years old and sitting in a jail cell charged with armed robbery. Even at this young age, my life seemed destined for a quick and ugly end. Then a visit from a complete stranger started a chain of events that would transform my life forever…
He was a teacher, and the father of a friend I went to school with. He told me that he had been studying my files, and talking to others about me, and that I was capable of great things. That one simple statement he made to me changed the way I felt about myself. And when that changed – everything changed.
How Do You Think About Yourself?
It’s amazing how the way you think about yourself changes the way you think about the world. You begin to understand that the only way to change the world is to change yourself.
This was a lesson I was to learn again, at a much deeper level, 15 years later when my business failed. It was that business failure – and the introspection it caused me – that led me to the extraordinary levels of success I have since attained.

It also began my journey of research and study in the areas of self-development, human potential, and how we shatter self-limiting beliefs that hold us back. More specifically, how we can tap into the power of our subconscious mind to achieve success and prosperity.
I believe your mindset is the single biggest determination for your success. You have to have a prosperity mindset, or else you won’t notice opportunities when they appear, disregard them if you do notice them, or sabotage yourself if you actually do act on them.
One thing that keeps you positive and moving forward is a belief that your greatest days are still ahead of you. It’s pretty hard to be optimistic if you think your best days are behind you. The best way to keep that focus on your future is to always give yourself new challenges – challenges that force you to grow. Here are some other ways to grow your prosperity mindset.
4 Ways to Grow Your Prosperity Mindset
1. Check Your Thoughts
Do you tell yourself things like “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,” or “I’m always a day late and a dollar short”? Your life is the harvest of your thoughts. Your thoughts come from the type of vision you have and where you are on the cycle. Replace the critical ones with affirmations such as “I and my family deserve the best.”

2. Expand Your Vision
Expand your vision of what’s possible for you and your family. Abundant people see opportunity. They never think something is too good to be true. They expect good things.
3. Dream Out Loud
Instead of getting hung up on what’s “realistic,” people with prosperity consciousness dream about what they really want in life. One way to maintain this focus is to make a “prosperity map” – a poster or collage depicting what you want to do, be and achieve, and put it where you will see it every day.
4. Don’t Buy Negativity
Successful people don’t listen to naysayers, but first imagine a better life and then work to make it so. The key is to believe and remember that anything is possible.

Anyone can be wealthy. Yet I am constantly amazed at how many people believe otherwise. They tell me I was lucky, got into the right field, did it at a different time, and all other sorts of lame excuses why I have been successful and why they have not. Today someone will become a millionaire. Someone might cross the threshold to billionaire. Some of these people have less education than you, started with fewer connections, less money and less support. But they have one thing: a prosperity mindset.
